Jajjah Tea; a Moroccan café, gallery and boutique in Marrakech
Jajjah Tea in Marrakech is an artistic, extremely colorful tearoom-meets-café-meets-restaurant located in the trendy Sidi Ghanem district of Marrakech. This is the place to come for a wide variety of tea blends, fresh juices, freshly prepared meals (on Fridays you absolutely have to try the couscous) and all kinds of artisanal cookies. Jajjah was co-founded by artist Hassan Hajjaj. The name of the café is his surname Hajjaj spelled backwards.

Recently MRRKCH visited Jajjah for the exhibition Cross Lens (a visual story between Morocco and the Netherlands) by Atay Atelier and happened to meet Hassan Hajjaj there as well (he also works extensively from London). Throughout the year various art projects can be admired at Jajjah. There is also a small, vibrant shop selling colorful design products, both interior and fashion.
The art of Hassan Hajjaj (born in 1961 in Larache, Morocco) combines strong influences from both North African culture and Western pop and street culture. Because of his bold use of color Hassan is often referred to as the Andy Warhol of Morocco.

Are you a big art fan? Then make sure to visit this less touristy but highly fascinating Sidi Ghanem district, just a ten to fifteen minute drive from the medina. It is truly an emerging creative hub in Marrakech, filled with pop-up design studios, art galleries, concept stores, and ateliers.
