Morocco is the official winner of the Africa Cup after all. Justice has been served.

On Tuesday evening the 17th of March Morocco has been officially declared as the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after CAF overturned the original final result. Senegal had initially won 1–0, but the match was marred by controversy when their players temporarily walked off in protest of a late penalty decision.

Although the match resumed and Senegal secured victory in extra time, CAF later ruled that Senegal had violated competition rules through the conduct of their team. According to CAF, this breached Article 82, which states that a team refusing to play or leaving the pitch without the referee’s permission is considered to have lost and is eliminated. Under Article 84, such a violation results in a 3–0 defeat and permanent elimination from the competition. As a result, the final was awarded 3–0 to Morocco.
